About Grace And Love Win Organisation (GALO)

Grace And Love Win Organisation (GALO) is a Life Planning Skills Promotion Organisation Based in Masaka Region, Uganda. GALO is one of the member Organisations under the Public Health Steering Team Uganda (PHSTU) and empowers vulnerable young mothers, Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and elderly people with life skills that contributes to their good health and well-being.

In the past few years, we have been concerned about how best young mothers and the elderly can be cared for. We especially work with those who are highly vulnerable to neglect such as young mothers with or whose children are born with disabilities, single young mothers 10-17 years who were abandoned by their husbands, vulnerable young women 15-24 years experiencing gender-based violence and the elderly persons 60 years left in the home alone or living with grandchildren as care givers.

I have worked with communities as a health promoter and have recognized that young mothers and the elderly have limited access to both health and social services including psychosocial Support (PSS), social economic strengthening interventions due to high levels of poverty.

It is with this in mind that we founded the Grace and Love Win Life Planning Skills Promotion Organization (GAL) to empower both young mothers and the elderly with life skills. Through these skills they can contribute to their good health and well-being in the Greater Masaka Region

Greater Masaka Region has 9 districts and 1 City. Masaka District which has a total population of 297,004 (145,552M, 151,452F). 134,916 (64,367M, 70,549F) are young women and men 10-24 years (45%), and 4.4% (12,998) are elderly people 60 years and above[1].
